The study, published in the journal Advance in Nutrition, states that milk intake helps in the prevention of chronic diseases, including cardiovascular diseases, metabolic syndrome, colon or bladder cancer, and type-2 diabetes.
Everyone knows that milk has long been seen as a healthy drink for all. But a new study has revealed that it is also beneficial in the prevention of chronic disease. For example, a positive relationship is indicated between a glass of milk daily during pregnancy and the birth weight, height, and mineral content of bones in childhood. Apart from this, the consumption of milk and dairy products also reduces the risk of weakness and sarcopenia (muscle mass) in old age.
The findings of the reviews published in the journal Advance in Nutrition studied the global scientific literature on the role of dairy products in the prevention and health of chronic diseases, including cardiovascular diseases, metabolic syndrome, colon or bladder cancer, and type-2 diadiabete
The study also examined the effects of milk and dairy products on growth, bone mineral density, muscle building, and children’s body during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Milk and dairy products not only contain many nutrients, but also nutrients such as protein, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, selenium, vitamin A, riboflavin, vitamin B12, and pantothenic acid etc
Overall intake of dairy products is associated with a decreased risk of metabolic syndrome, which supports the argument that the consumption of dairy products does not increase the risk of heart diseases but may have a gradual protective effect on people. . This study also demonstrated that normal consumption of dairy products is associated with a lower risk of colorectal cancer and bladder cancer.
In contrast, the study also suggested that the consumption of such products, especially low-fat dairy and yogurt, also reduces the risk of type-2 diabetes.
